Rangers put Rapada on waivers in prep for release |
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers have put left-hander Clay Rapada on waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. The Rangers’ move Friday came after Rapada was designated for assignment Jan. 3 to clear room on the 40-man roster for pitchers Brandon Webb and Arthur Rhodes. The 29-year-old Rapada made 13 relief appearances in September for the AL champion Rangers, and pitched three times in the AL Championship Series.
